Welcome Damned
Yes, truly amazed. This is my fifth post and I’m still not bored. Go figure. Wonder how long I’ll be able to keep this up.
Anyway, lets get on with what’s been happening lately.
The chandelier purse is coming along. Lights are working. Yay! And, now, I’m attaching cotton fabric to form the underpinnings of the purse. Then I’ll attach the black velvet to the cotton fabric. Need to have at least that much done (plus the strap) for my visit to the VanDusen Festival of Lights in a few days. Won’t be able to do the beading by then, but I hope to have all the other stuff ready.
Made a change to the green blanket. First thought was to do a bunch of popcorn stitches with little fans between them, but that was using up too much yarn and I realized I didn’t really like it all that much. So, crocheting a simple pattern with just single crochets with one chain between and each row has the single crochet going on the chain of the row below. I’m sure that description was clear as mud. Anyway, it kind of looks like a basket weave stitch in the end. Can’t say it’s exactly my style, but it’ll be a nice restful project to work on.
Made a couple of bath mats a couple of years ago with this basket weave pattern out of Lily’s Sugar and Cream. Great yarn for bath mats, if anyone is interested.
For the bat blanket, made changes as well. Was going to do an intarsia pattern to look like black bats on a dark blue sky, but the blue was kind of dark. Good colour for a night sky, but too dark to let the bats stand out. Using Caron’s One Pound yarn in Black and Midnight Blue, and the black isn’t really black enough. Lovely yarn otherwise.
Tried using different types of stitches, but didn’t like that idea. Then thought of making the bats separate from the blue. A circle for each of the body and head in single crochet, then I don’t know what for the wings. Not sure what I wanted to do with the blue either.
Then, I went back to what I had originally planned: all in double crochet intarsia. But now going to add some kind of embroidery to the bats to make them stand out. Don’t know what that embroidery will be yet, though. Maybe French knots. I really like French knots. I did one square with one bat in the night sky. I’ll show you a photo of it just as soon as I find my camera. Have no idea where it could have gotten to. Sorry, but I’m somewhat challenged in my organizational skills.
For another project I have in mind, been wanting to try out filling silicon moulds with hot glue. Add the glue to the moulds and let them cool and harden. Got the idea through PricklyAlpaca‘s YouTube channel, who got it from Benulus‘s Youtube channel. I do love YouTube. Lot’s of great ideas when it’s not a colossal time sink.
These are the moulds I got: (from a place that will never be mentioned on this blog):

Anyway, have a hope chest my dad made for me back in the mists of time that I want to recover. Probably will decoupage some fabric on it (purple sari fabric?), but would like to glue some stuff to make it more … more … something. All seems simple enough, as soon as I figure out how to use my glue gun.
Also been thinking of a coat I want to make with some kind of artwork on it in the style of this:

Sorry, can’t give credit for these. Don’t remember where I got them.
A jacket would be nice, but would want a longer coat. Maybe knee length. Thought of copying some Salvador Dali artwork maybe by printing on fabric or embroidering. Don’t know yet. Love Dali’s The Persistence of Memory.

Got this from Wikipedia’s page about the painting, by the way.
One last thing before I go. I was looking at the statistics for this blog and have found out that there have been more visitors than people I’ve told about what I’m doing here. And a few of them are outside Canada. How did they find out about it? Not that I’m complaining, of course.
Well, it’s been a busy two weeks of sitting and thinking and doing. Thank you, damned, for coming.
